Hand Anatomy
Back when I was training, one of our assignments was to depict our choice of anatomy using pen and ink style linework only. Minimal colour could be added to emphasise certain structures, as long as the image could stand on its own with no colour added.
I decided to depict the anatomy of the palmer aspect of the hand, focussing on the major muscles, arteries and nerves.
Here is a collection of the final images for this project as well as supporting work.
Research sketches and work in progress
During the research phase for this project I spent a lot of time sketching cadaver specimens to get used to the structures. I wanted the final piece to illustrate the anatomy as if it were alive, and decided to use a drawing of my own hand as a basis to superimpose the structures onto.
